ILOILO City – Slain Western Visayas drug lord Richard Prevendido had connections in Cotabato City, Antique and Capiz provinces, according to the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).
“There are many of them (who are still operating) and we have to watch out for these individuals,” said Senior Superintendent Marlon Tayaba, IPPO director.
Prevendido died in a shootout with policemen in Barangay Balabago, Jaro district on Sept. 1.
“We are digging deeper. We are working hard to identify these personalities connected with Prevendido,” said Tayaba.
The drug lord’s death, he stressed, won’t stop the IPPO from conducting anti-illegal drug operations, especially against other members of the Prevendido drug group.
The IPPO has no time frame to arrest other members, clarified Tayaba, but he assured Ilonggos that policemen “work hard” on certain personalities “to get their activities.”
Tayaba expressed gratitude to the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) for acknowledging its efforts which resulted to the neutralization of Prevendido.
He personally received a copy of a resolution passed by the city council commending his team; former Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) director Senior Superintendent Remus Zacharias Canieso; Special Weapons and Tactics Team; Jaro Police Station; and the Regional Intelligence Division of the Police Regional Office 6 for the successful operation against Prevendido.
Tayaba also revealed the IPPO already submitted the documents needed for the informant of Prevendido’s whereabouts to receive the reward money of P1.1 million.
Tayaba also said the identity of the informant will remain incognito and that the IPPO has provided police security for the person.
The P1.1 million came from the Iloilo City government (P500 thousand), Iloilo provincial government (P500 thousand) and the PRO-6. (Iloilo City PIO/PN)
