ILOILO City – Acting Mayor Jose Espinosa III reminded barangay officials that the tanod patrols recently turned over to them were for public use, not for personal use.
In total, the city government had given all its 180 villages with tanod patrols – motorcycles with sidecars.
“Under the Civil Service rule, government facilities, including vehicles, must not be used for personal purposes,” stressed Espinosa.
These barangay patrol vehicles are a big help to village officials’ mobility and easier response to emergencies, he added.
Barangay councilman Francis Acap of Barangay Mohon, Arevalo district expressed his gratitude to the city government for the patrol.
“We are very thankful. This tanod patrol will be very helpful to maintain the security of our residents,” said Acap.
According to Espinosa, with the tanod patrols, village watchmen can also further strengthen their peace and order campaign and illegal drugs monitoring.
On Wednesday, the city government turned over 17 tanod patrols to recipient barangays. This was the last batch to be distributed.
The last recipient villages were the following:
- Bonifacio, Mohon, and San Jose in Arevalo district

Osmeña, Arsenal-Aduana, Danao, Legaspi-Dela Rama, President Roxas, Nonoy and Yulo Arroyo in the City Proper

Laguda and Rizal in La Paz district

Ma. Cristina, Sta. Isabel, San Jose, and Seminario in Jaro district; and
