“We have rented an inland resort for the isolation of asymptomatic COVID-19- positive cases and those showing mild symptoms,” says Mayor Eugene Reyes of Buenavista, Guimaras.

BUENAVISTA, Guimaras – The local government here will be using an inland resort as an isolation facility should cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) balloon.

The inland resort is in Barangay Rizal. It has four buildings, each having four rooms.

Mayor Eugenio Reyes said the resort is an ideal isolation facility because it is far from residential areas.

Buenavista’s current isolation facility is near the municipal hall and residences.

“We have rented this resort for the isolation of asymptomatic COVID-19-positive cases and those showing mild symptoms,” Reyes told Panay News.

Those with severe symptoms and are immuno-compromised will be taken to the advanced quarantine facility of Guimaras were government doctors and nurses could better care for them, he added.

The local government is renting the inland resort for P20,000 a month.

The facility has been installed with internet connection and a television set so that those who would be temporarily confined there won’t feel too alienated.

Reyes also clarified that only local COVID-19 cases would be accommodated in the inland resort.

For COVID-19-positive locally stranded individual (LSI) and returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs), he said Buenavista would be following the guidelines issued by the provincial government – that is, refer these cases to hotels in Iloilo City designated as quarantine facilities.

As of Nov. 10, Buenavista had 63 COVID-19 cases (cumulative) – one active and 62 recovered./PN
