ILOILO City – Bulk water supplier Flo Water Resources Iloilo, Inc. started pumping water to the pipes of Metro Pacific Iloilo Water (MPIW) yesterday.
The redelivery of water was made after Flo Water’s water passed the bacteriological test, one of the requirements before MPIW could accept water again from the bulk water supplier.
According Metro Iloilo Water District (MIWD) OIC general manager Amarylis Josephine Castro, after obtaining two negative bacteriological results yesterday, MPIW conducted massive flushing activities to bring the turbidity and chlorine to appropriate levels per the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water.
The resumption of water distribution followed after the flushing activities.
In an advisory released yesterday afternoon, MPIW announced that normal water supply was expected to resume not later than 7 p.m. of June 16.
“We recommend everyone to please boil water before using it as drinking water,” said MPIW.
Castro, for her part, reiterated to water concessionaires that MIWD and MPIW are committed to look after the health and safety of consumers in the water that they provide.
She also thanked the consumers for their patience and understanding, and apologized for the inconvenience beyond their control.
MPIW and Flo Water on Tuesday settled a dispute that led to the disruption of water supply in this city and three adjacent towns beginning Monday afternoon.
Flo Water took issue on the plan to have an independent third party review its P21 per cubic meter selling price to MPIW.
But both parties eventually agreed there would be no third party involvement in their water supply arrangement./PN
