Burglar hits Lambunao town hall

ILOILO — The zoning office inside the municipal hall of Lambunao, Iloilo lost over P100,000 worth of cash and electronic equipment.

Employees discovered their office in disarray upon arriving at work on the morning of January 14.

Initial investigation conducted by the Lambunao Municipal Police Station (MPS) showed that the burglar broke into the office through the building’s back door.

Captain Dande Ilalto, chief of Lambunao MPS, stated that aside from cash, other stolen items include three laptops valued at approximately P50,000, and two external hard drives.

Ilalto added that the Office of the Liga ng mga Barangay was also ransacked, however, no items were reported missing.

Police said the zoning and Liga offices were not equipped with closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras. One CCTV camera was installed outside the building that has captured footage which could be crucial in identifying the burglar.

As of press time, Lambunao police have identified two persons of interest. Both have a history of robbery and theft.

“These incidents coincided with a power outage near their office… The unusual circumstances, especially considering that three security guards were on duty at the time, raise questions about how this breach could occur,” Ilalto noted./PN
