ILOILO — A 48-year-old resident of San Enrique, Iloilo tagged as a high-value individual was arrested and around 80 grams of suspected shabu worth P544,000 were seized in a buy-bust operation in the town’s Barangay Poblacion Ilaya.
Alias “Jef,” married and unemployed, was caught by joint operatives of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit 2 and the San Enrique Municipal Police Station (MPS) at 6:45 p.m. on October 29, after thorough intelligence monitoring, target validation, and surveillance in relation to the suspect’s alleged illegal activities.
Police recovered six plastic sachets of suspected shabu, including the buy bust item, buy-bust money and other non-drug related items.
The suspect was detained at the San Enrique MPS, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño commended the operatives and emphasized that the campaign against illegal drugs does not end with the arrest of a suspect.
“Hindi lamang ang mga nagbebenta ng ilegal na droga ang ating tinutugis. Layunin din nating matukoy at maputol ang kanilang mga koneksyon at pinagmumulan ng suplay,” stated Tuaño. “Bawat impormasyong nakakalap sa isang operasyon ay mahalaga upang matunton ang mas malawak na network ng ilegal na droga.”/PN
