BACOLOD City – An 8-year-old resident of Barangay Zone 2, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental died after he got electrocuted.
Roniel Martinez Juavez touched a live secondary line of the Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (Noneco) while trying to throw garbage at Eusebio Subdivision, said Superintendent Edel Jose Manzano, Cadiz City police chief.
Juavez was a Grade 3 pupil. The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
The Noneco management is investigating the incident and may give financial assistance to the victim’s family.
It was the second case of electrocution in Cadiz City in less than a week.
Around 2 p.m. on Sept. 29, a carpenter also died after he got electrocuted in Barangay Tinampaan.
Raymundo Merabe, a resident of Barangay Daga, touched an electrical wire in a house he was working on, police said.
Both Juavez and Merabe were declared dead at the Cadiz City Emergency Clinic./PN
