MANILA – Siblings Marian Jade and Jella Capadocia cruised to the quarterfinals of the Philippine Columbian Association (PCA) Open women’s doubles event at the PCA indoor courts in Paco, Manila.
The Capadocia sisters – who traced their roots from San Jose, Antique – advanced after an easy 6-1, 6-0 victory over the Bianca Pica-Cheli Cruz tandem.
The Capadocias will next face La Carlota, Negros Occidental native Tracy Llamas and Melanie Dizon, who outlasted Aileen Rogan and Japanese partner Noriko Yamada 7-6 (5), 6-3.
“We’re used to playing together. We know each other very well but there’s still some room for improvement. We need to limit our errors,” said Marian Jade.
Aside from women’s doubles, the 22-year-old Marian Jade was also campaigning in women’s singles, an event she had won four times before.
Meanwhile, Clarice Patrimonio and American Madison Kane also served notice on their opponents as they eliminated the pair of Gene Melendez and Mary San Jose 6-0, 6-0.
The second seeded Patrimonio-Kane tandem will next face Jed Aquino and Jenni Dizon, who advanced after a 6-2, 6-2 romp against Angela Gomez and Bea Gomez./PN
