ILOILO – The Association of Iloilo Provincial Government Employees (AIPGE), in Resolution No. 2022-04, asked Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) for an “allocation of healthcare insurance benefits to officials and employees of the Iloilo Provincial Government.”

AIPGE has over 2,000 members.

According to association president Joecil Mayor, “not all of our employees have medical or health insurance and we all know that having health concerns or hospitalization cost a fortune nowadays.”

While it’s true that the provincial government has district hospitals and provincial government employees are members of Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Mayor said these are not enough.

“Due to the limited healthcare services provided by the provincial and district hospitals, there is compelling necessity for the allocation of healthcare insurance benefits to the officials and employees of the Iloilo provincial government,” read part of AIPGE’s resolution.

Governor Defensor said he asked the Provincial Legal Office to study AIPGE’s resolution.

“Right now I don’t exactly know kon ano gid man ang puede sina sa aton because we have healthcare insurance already, amo na sia ang PhilHealth,” said Defensor.

But he agreed with AIPGE that having healthcare insurance benefits aside from PhilHealth is better./PN
