ROXAS City – The provincial government of Capiz plans to conduct massive tests for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) once its test laboratory becomes operational.
Gov. Esteban Evan Contreras said frontliners such as healthcare workers, among others, will be prioritized.
The Department of Health (DOH) will assess the test laboratory before it is allowed to operate.
Contreras said the mass testing could result to a surge in the number of COVID-19 cases in Capiz.
But what’s important, he said, is that these COVID-positive people are detected then isolated right away so they could no longer infect others.
As of Nov. 2, DOH Region 6 reported Capiz having a total of 878 COVID cases (cumulative) of which 135 are still active cases, 696 recovered, and 29 dead./PN
