Old Culasi dike rechanneled

SAN JOSE, Antique – Gov. Rhodora Cadiao tapped local contractors to re-channel the direction of the river in the old dike along Bacong River in Barangay Camancijan, Culasi, Antique.

A portion of the river collapsed due to heavy rains brought by the recent typhoon “Quinta”.

According to Barangay Captain Lucelle Yap of Camancijan, 56 families were evacuated.

Governor Cadiao inspected the dike. The rechanneling was recommended by the Provincial Engineering Office in preparation for upcoming typhoons that could potentially further damage the old dike.

“Gapasalamat gid ako kay Governor Cadiao. Dasig ang ana pagresponde. Nag-adto gid tana dya kanamun. Ginturuk na gid kag nagdara tana kang ayuda sa amon mga evacuees,” said Barangay Captain Yap.

The dike is already 50 years old. It was initiated by Cadiao’s father, former governor Josue Cadiao./PN
