ROXAS City – Rural health units (RHU) in Capiz must form vaccination teams to administer the vaccine for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) once this becomes available.
During a recent provincial government meeting on Capiz’s COVID-19 vaccination plan led by Gov. Esteban Evan Contreras, it was agreed that a vaccination team must include one doctor, one counselor, one vaccinator, two documentors, and one supervisor.
Private and public hospitals in Capiz were also tasked to form their own COVID vaccination teams.
Each team must endeavor to vaccinate 70 to 100 individuals.
Priority sectors for vaccination were identified – frontliners such as healthcare workers from private and public hospitals and those from health centers, and municipal contact tracers, among others.
Chiefs/administrators of private and public hospitals in Capiz attended the meeting together with the 16 heads of Municipal Health Offices and the chief of the city health office here.
As for the vaccination sites, each must have a wide waiting area, registration area, screening area, inoculation area, and post-vaccination or monitoring area.
There must be also a washing or sanitation area.
Provincial Health Office chief Dr. Mary Joy Castroverde said the provincial government allotted over P80 million for the vaccination program.
People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales.
These droplets also land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth. (With a report from the Capiz Kabalaka Information Center/PN)
