Cauayan man stabbed, hacked to death

BACOLOD City – A man was stabbed and hacked to death in Barangay Inayawan, Cauayan, Negros Occidental.

The 32-year-old resident Ross Tolentino died of stab and hack wounds on the body, a police report showed.

Police identified the suspects as 24-year-old Jorge Magbanua and 24-year-old James Paul Sapinit.

Magbanua and Sapinit allegedly stabbed and hacked Tolentino around 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, the report added.

Tolentino was rushed to the Cauayan District Hospital where the attending physician declared him “dead on arrival.”   

The motive in the incident was not immediately established. 

Magbanua was detained in the lockup cell of the Cauayan municipal police station. 

Police officers, meanwhile, have yet to arrest Sapinit, who fled after the incident./PN
