BACOLOD City – The Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) has a one-hour radio program dubbed as “Kasanag” from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday as part of its information, education and communication campaign.
The program – which is anchored by Ceneco Promotions Section head Malou Parroco and Ceneco Member-Consumers Integrated Services Division head Roel Venus – airs on DYRL Abyan Radio 1035.
The radio program is aimed at strengthening the information dissemination scheme of the electric cooperative, an initiative that Ceneco president Roy Cordova supports.
Meanwhile, Ceneco general manager Sulpicio Lagarde said with the looming property developments in its covered areas, the cooperative is growing its power load requirement by 11 percent.
Ceneco caters to the largest number of electric consumers in Negros Occidental, including those in the cities of Bacolod, Bago, Talisay, and Silay, and towns of Murcia and Salvador Benedicto.
Ceneco has a maximum power demand of about 157 megawatts this year. It sources its power supply from four generation utilities under their existing power supply agreements.
In case of shortage, power requirement outside the agreements is automatically supplied by the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market provided under the Electric Power Industry Reform Act.
“We are prepared for the developments because we are now one of the fastest growing electric cooperatives in the country,” Lagarde said.
Meanwhile, Ceneco conducted a raffle promo for its member-consumers as a way of giving back this holiday season.
Venus said member-consumers who paid their power bills from Dec. 22 to 29 were entitled to one raffle ticket, regardless of the amount they paid.
Issuance and dropping of raffle tickets ended at 3 p.m. on Dec. 29. Simultaneous draws were held at 4 p.m. that day in all Ceneco field offices and collection centers.
The names of the winners were posted in the offices and the collection centers. Winners will also be notified through text or through call, Venus said.
Winners must present a valid identification card upon claiming the prizes. Unclaimed prizes will be forfeited after three months.
The prizes are not convertible to cash, Venus said. (With report from PNA/PN)
