MANILA – Ceres-Negros FC aims to keep its hold on the top spot of the 2019 Philippines Football League. It battles lowly Philippine Air Force FC this afternoon at the Aboitiz Pitch in Lipa, Batangas.
Heading into the match slated at 4 p.m., the defending champions Busmen is at first spot with 40 points on 13 wins and a draw.
The Air Force is at sixth with 11 points (three wins, two draws, 13 losses).
The Negros Occidental-based football team remains on a roll after scoring a lopsided 13-0 victory over Global-Makati FC on Aug. 23 with Bienvenido Marañon spearheading the attack with four goals.
Also contributing for the Busmen in the lopsided win were Mike Ott and Robert Lopez Mendy, who had three conversions each.
Stephan Schock, Takashi Odawara and James Younghusband drained one each.
The Air Force, on the other hand, was fresh from a 4-1 victory over the cellar-dwelling Global Makati FC on Wednesday where John Bedia spearheaded the Airmen with two hits.
This will be the fourth meeting between the two squads. The Busmen dominated the Airmen in their first three encounters — 3-0 on May 29, 12-0 on July 13 and 5-0 on Aug. 17./PN
