CERES Negros FC will have to wait for exactly a month before it can begin its title-retention bid in the 2018 season of the Philippines Football League (PFL).

Its supposed home field opener against Stallion Laguna FC at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City on Saturday evening was moved to June 27, an advisory posted on the PFL website stated.

“Both clubs agreed to the rescheduling of their opening match of the season with the club from Laguna as the requesting party, citing unavoidable concerns for the said match,” the PFL said.

Ceres Negros will instead open its campaign on April 4 against regional rival Kaya Futbol Club Iloilo, still at the Panaad Park and Stadium.

The delay was a welcome development for the Negros Occidental-based squad, which will play host to Myanmar’s Shan United on March 6 in Bacolod City.

It will also fly to Myanmar on the 14th to face the same team in latter’s turf at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon. Game day has not yet been set./PN
