ILOILO City – A resident of Guimaras province was arrested for allegedly trying to steal the contents of the donation box of a Catholic church in La Paz.

The 30-year-old Geleen Serra was detained at the district police station.

A convent staffer of the Nuestra Señora de la Paz y Buen Viaje Parish Church caught Serra trying to open the donation box, a police report showed.

She ran and hid after seeing him, the 26-year-old Alvin Subosa told the police.

Subosa caught Serra, a resident of Buenavista, Guimaras, with the help of police officers.

Seized from her after her arrest around 9:40 p.m. on June 1 were a hammer, a screw, a screw driver, a hacksaw, a flat-sheet steel cutter, and a power bank./PN
