BACOLOD City – Councilor Ricardo Tan asked Mayor Evelio Leonardia and the Local School Board to provide janitorial services to the Education and Training Center School (ETCS) Extension Building in Barangay 16.
Concerns regarding the cleanliness of comfort rooms and surroundings of the school were raised to the Parents and Teachers Association but the latter did not take action due to the lack of budget, Tan said.
Section 99, Title IV of the Local Government Code authorizes the Local School Board to determine an annual supplementary budget for the operation and maintenance of public schools, said the councilor.
Furthermore, Section 272 of the law provides that public schools must have a Special Education Fund to be used for the maintenance of their comfort rooms and surroundings, he said.
In June, 1,708 pupils transferred to the ETCS-Extension Building, City Schools Division Superintendent Cynthia Demavivas said./PN
