BACOLOD City – Councilor Dindo Ramos, chairman of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) committee on transportation, hopes that the construction of the perimeter road in Barangay Tangub can start this year.
Yanson Realty Development Corp. donated the 5-hectare lot where the road is planned to be built.
Yanson Realty and the city government signed the Deed of Donation in October 2015.
The SP on the same year ratified the deed in relation to City Ordinance No. 08-15-746, which laid down the guidelines for the establishment of the city’ new southbound transport terminal.
Ramos said the road project needs about P30 million. It was not included in the city’s budget this year, though, he added.
The road project can only materialize this year if its funding will be sourced from the city’s supplemental budget, the councilor explained.
The proposed southbound terminal is deemed to decongest traffic in Libertad Market area.
According to Ramos, he is expecting complaints once the construction of the new southbound terminal starts.
He said some vendors at Libertad Market might complain of losing customers. Some might also complain of having to take two or more rides to their destination because of the proposed terminal’s new location.
According to Ramos, Yanson Realty will start building the terminal once the perimeter road is completed. /PN
