ILOILO City – A 25-year-old construction worker was choked to death in Barangay Tagbac, Jaro district yesterday.

Sinjohn Bandiano was a resident of Barangay Batitao, Sara, Iloilo, a police report showed.

Police identified another construction worker – 21-year-old Marvin Victorio of Barangay Traciano, Dumarao, Capiz – as a suspect.

Both drunk, Victorio subdued Bandiano during a fistfight and choked the latter until he was knocked unconscious at around 5 a.m., police said, citing initial investigation.

Jaro police station officers on patrol responded and rushed Bandiano to the West Visayas State University Medical Center.

The attending physician pronounced Bandiano “dead on arrival,” the police report stated.

Victorio turned himself in to the police. He was detained at the Jaro police station.

Bandiano’s remains were at the hospital’s morgue pending an autopsy, stated the police report./PN
