BACOLOD City – IPM Construction Development Corp. will collect garbage here for two more months.
Its contract was supposed to end tomorrow, but the city government decided to extend it.
City hall wants to buy time for a new bidding for environmental sanitary services, Department of Public Services head Nelson Sedillo said, citing discussions during the Solid Waste Management Board meeting on Dec. 26.
The bidding process takes around 26 days, said Sedillo.
For P59.4 million, the city government contracted the IPM for environmental sanitary services for four months (Sept. 2 to Dec. 31) on a “total cleanup package.”
Of the city’s P2-billion budget for 2017, P180 million was allocated for the environmental sanitary services.
IPM project supervisor Daryll Abiol confirmed that they will continue collecting garbage here for two more months.
No less than Mayor Evelio Leonardia told the company about the extension of their contract, Abiol disclosed.
Eleven IPM trucks collect garbage across the city.
But five more trucks make rounds in the evening for a more efficient collection during the holidays, Abiol said./PN
