BACOLOD City – The city government has paid tribute to its 32 retiring employees.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia led the distribution of plaques and gift packs during a program at the Bacolod City Government Center (city hall) annex building.
Among the retirees the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs bookkeeper Suzette Siachongco had served the government the longest with 44 years.
On the other hand, the 65-year-old City Health Office medical officer Estrela Leong had the shortest time of service with 12 years.
Leonardia lauded and thanked the retiring workers for helping in the mission of making Bacolod a better city.
“You have contributed something to the growth of the government and the progress of the city,” the mayor told them on Dec. 9.
Leonardia described government service as “most fulfilling” and “more rewarding” than any job in the private sector despite the “risks.”/PN
