BACOLOD City – City hall job order and contractual workers were enrolled in the Social Security System (SSS) via an agreement with the local government.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia, SSS Visayas West 1 division head Lilani Benedian and SSS Bacolod East branch head Lina Hilado also signed a memorandum yesterday on the Kaltas Collect Program.
The program gives the city government an authority to collect and remit the workers’ monthly contributions if the job order and contractual workers agree that their contributions be subtracted from their salaries.
Job order and contractual workers earn a monthly salary of P9,990.
The workers themselves will decide on the amount of their monthly contribution but the minimum shall be P330.
The Social Security Commission Resolution No. 170 series of 2014 orders the coverage of job order and contractual workers of government agencies as self-employed members of SSS.
“Job orders don’t have an employer-employee relationship with the local government unit so they have to pay it (SSS contribution) on their own,” said Benedian./PN
