BACOLOD City – Three employees of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in this city tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Their office was temporarily closed.
According to Kathrina Caña, Comelec officer, voter registration has been suspended, too, until Aug. 29.
One of the positive patients was hospitalized The patient was the first to undergo r.everse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing after exhibiting coronavirus symptoms on Aug.13. Results were out the following day.
The two other Comelec employees who tested positive for COVID-19 were close contacts. They were quarantined.
All the infected employees were currently in good condition, according to Caña.
Other employees were self-quarantining after yielding negative RT-PCR test results./PN
