ILOILO City – Marital problems may have something to do with the death of a 22-year-old mother in Barangay Balibagan Este, Santa Barbara, Iloilo, police said.
According to investigators, Iren Soliva committed suicide by hanging.
Her brother Earl John Sanchez found her in their house suspended from the ceiling with a nylon rope tied around her neck at around 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
Police learned that Soliva has become “problematic” since her separation from her husband.
Before she was found dead, Soliva pleaded to her family not to hand over her two children to her husband no matter what happens, said Senior Inspector Rey Pabalan, Santa Barbara police chief.
“Her body had no injuries that would suggest a foul play,” Pabalan said. “Her family and relatives believed she really killed herself.”/PN
