BACOLOD City – Police officers from the 3rd District of Negros Occidental are coordinating with the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) to put an end to a series of robberies allegedly perpetuated by the notorious Arnold “Aki” Cuadra group.

A joint peace and security coordinating conference will be held today to discuss the robberies and the coordination plan among police officers.

Yesterday, a victim of a motorcycle robbery, or motornapping, identified two suspects from the rogue’s gallery of the Silay City police station, according to Superintendent Adonis Rosales, the chief of the Talisay City police station.

The victim – whom Rosales did not name – said Alex Barredo and Antonio Luna were responsible for stealing his motorcycle.

Barredo and Luna were identified members of the Cuadra group, which has been blamed for robberies in the cities of Bacolod, Talisay, Silay, and Victorias and EB Magalona town, Rosales said.

The members of the Cuadra group usually operate in threes, on board a motorcycle, spotting target areas, commonly secluded subdivisions and city streets, Rosales explained.

“They usually steal an average of two motorcycles in a single operation. Sometimes they also conduct armed robbery,” he added.

The Talisay City police chief said the robbery group had “laid low” upon learning that the police were hunting them down.

But some members were still very active, Rosales added.

He said the suspects were doing this to “replenish” the money they used to bail out their members who were arrested by the joint operation of the BCPO and the Talisay City police station on Aug. 19 in Barangay Bata.

The Motorized Anti-Crime and Security Operatives was revived to augment regular checkpoints and other police operations, Rosales said./PN
