ILOILO City – A couple with a history of drug-related offenses was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Zone 3, Barangay San Juan, Molo district.
Approximately 30 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P204,000 were seized by officers of the Molo police station from aliases “Bert” and “Elen” on Monday, February 3.
According to Police Lieutenant Lloyd Pagulayan, Molo’s deputy chief of police, the couple had prior arrests for illegal drug-related activities.
Investigations revealed that the wife was released from prison in 2019, followed by the husband in 2022. Despite their previous incarceration, the couple allegedly resumed their involvement in illegal drug transactions, reportedly driven by economic hardship, Pagulayan said.
As of this writing, police were tracing the source of the couple’s illegal drug supply.
The suspects are now in custody in the custody of the Molo Police Station, awaiting the filing of charges for violating Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002)./PN
