ILOILO City – A former employee of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) charged with eight counts of “fraud against the public treasury” was arrested in Balasan, Iloilo.

Efrain Jaro, 39, was a resident of Barangay Aranjuez, Balasan. The police served his arrest warrant around 5 p.m. on Jan. 18.

From his house, Jaro was taken to the Balasan police station.

Judge Rogelio Amador of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 66 issued the arrest warrant.

Jaro used to work at LTO’s office in Carles, Iloilo. He reportedly had an Ombudsman case and was removed from the service.

For Jaro’s “fraud against the public treasury”, the court set the bail bond at P16,000.

It was unclear as of this writing if Jaro was able to post bail./PN
