Cousins caught in separate drug busts

BACOLOD City – Suspected shabu worth some P30,000 was recovered in two separate drug operations in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

The drug operations targeted two cousins living in Barangay 6, San Carlos City, police said.

The 49-year-old Gualberto Oga was arrested around 9:10 p.m. Thursday, a police report showed.

Three sachets of suspected shabu were recovered from him including the buy-bust item he sold to an undercover officer for P500.

The suspected drugs seized from Oga weighed 1.5 grams valued at around P18,000, police said.

Five minutes later, Oga’s 30-year-old cousin Deogracias Fernandez was caught.

Recovered from Fernandez were two sachets of suspected shabu weighing around 1 gram worth P12,000.

Joint elements of the San Carlos City police station, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and Provincial Intelligence Unit staged the sting operations.

Oga and Fernandez were detained in the lockup cell of the San Carlos City police station.

They were facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
