CENTRAL Philippine University made it to the finals of the secondary girls and the open women category of the 2017 Iloilo City Developmental Volleyball League Season 3 after beating their semifinals opponents on Saturday.
CPU clinched a finals seat in the open women after a 25-13, 25-14, 25-21 straight-set victory over Iloilo Science and Technology University at the Ateneo de Iloilo gym.
Golden Lions will battle Superfly – which escaped University of San Agustin 19-25, 25-20, 20-25, 25-5, 15-10 – in the championship round this weekend.
CPU’s secondary girls squad also barged into the finals after a 25-16, 25-8 sweep of the hapless Iloilo City National High School in the knockout semifinals.
Dumangas claimed the other finals seat in the secondary girls. It defeated Santa Barbara 25-10, 25-18. The CPU-Dumangas finale will be held also on Saturday.
Meanwhile, La Paz and San Nicolas Elementary School set up a finals encounter in the elementary girls after beating Hua Siong (25-15, 25-13) and University of San Agustin (25-10, 25-15), respectively.
University of San Agustin and I. Arroyo Elementary School, on the other hand, were contesting the elementary boys crown after sweeping Mandurriao Elementary School (25-11, 25-5) and Pavia (25-12, 25-27, 25-15).
In the secondary boys, Concepcion completed the semifinals cast after a 25-18, 27-25 victory over John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University in the quarterfinals.
