ILOILO City – With 30 championships, as well as 11 and eight 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up finishes respectively, the Central Philippine (CPU) Golden Lions is leading in the partial 2016 Iloilo Private Schools Athletics Association (ILOPRISAA) medal tally, as of Monday.
The CPU Golden Lions has claimed gold in the tertiary category of the following events: men’s badminton, men’s sepak takraw, men’s football, women’s chess, women’s table tennis, and women’s taekwondo.
Meanwhile, in the secondary arena, CPU has reigned supreme in the following events: boy’s athletics, boys’ badminton doubles, girls’ badminton doubles, girls’ basketball, boys’ chess, girls’ chess, boys’ football, girls’ futsal, boys’ table tennis, girls’ table tennis, boys’ taekwondo, girls’ taekwondo, boys’ tennis doubles, girls’ tennis doubles, boys’ volleyball, and girls’ volleyball.
The Golden Lions also shone in the elementary level with championships in boys’ chess, boys’ football, girls’ swimming, boys’ table tennis, boys’ taekwondo, boys’ volleyball, and girls’ volleyball.
The champion teams are set to represent ILOPRISAA in the upcoming Western Visayas PRISAA in Antique.
Meanwhile, the 2016 Iloilo Schools Sports Council Meet kicked into high gear on Sunday at the Iloilo Sports Complex. As of Monday, the Congressional District Sports Association (CDSA) 5th district leads in the overall standings with four medals as the CDSA 2nd district is close behind with three./PN
