CENTRAL Philippine University continued to make waves in the 2017 lloilo Private Schools Athletic Association (ILOPRISAA) Meet after bagging titles in the elementary and secondary chess and table tennis events on Monday in Iloilo City.
CPU captured the overall championship in elementary boys’ chess, relegating Sun Yat Sen High School and Ateneo de Iloilo to second and third places, respectively.
It also ruled the secondary girls’ event with Ateneo trailing behind while also topping the secondary boys’ event followed by John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University.
Moreover, the Jaro district-based university racked up gold medal finishes in table tennis, with its elementary team getting ahead of silver medalist Sun Yat Sen and bronze medalist Ateneo.
CPU also stamped class in the secondary division by winning the boys’ title (Hua Siong and Sun Yat Sen were second and third, respectively) and the girls’ championship (Ateneo was second and Hua Siong, third).
In the tertiary division, CPU also claimed the women’s team tiara over John B. and Hua Siong and finished second in the men’s team event behind John B.
In athletics, Western Institute of Technology claimed the overall titles in tertiary men and women, while Sun Yat Sen, CPU and University of San Agustin ruled secondary girls, secondary boys and elementary boys, respectively./PN
