MANILA – Creamline Cool Smashers was assured of a semifinals seat in the Premier V League Reinforced Conference after a 25-15, 25-20, 25-23 sweep over Motolite on Wednesday night at San Juan Arena.

Kuttika Kaewpin and Aleoscar Blanco each scored 13 markers for the defending champions Cool Smashers, which tallied its sixth consecutive victory to improve to 6-1 slate.

Alyssa Valdez also delivered the goods for the Cool Smashers with double-double 10 points and 12 digs, while Julia Morado contributed 26 excellent sets on top of three points.

“We’re just really happy that we are really jelling and our chemistry as a team is back,” Valdez said. “I guess the key talaga in winning were our imports. I think na nakuha na talaga ‘yung system ni coach Tai and really jelled with Jia.”

The Cool Smashers’ one-sided victory spoiled the debut of Motolite star Myla Pablo, who sat out the squad’s first six matches due to back injury before returning in this match with three points.

Channon Thompson scored 15 points, while fellow import Krystle Esdelle added 14 markers for Motolite, which dropped to a share of fourth spot with BanKo Perlas Lady Spikers at 2-5.

Meanwhile, Pacific Town-Army Lady Troopers vented its ire on cellar-dwelling Bali Pure Water Defenders with a 25-21, 25-20, 25-21 beat down. Olena Lymareva-Flink had 15 markers for the winning team./PN
