CREAMLINE Cool Smashers stunned Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors 25-13, 23-25, 25-16, 25-16 in the Premier Volleyball League on Tour on Wednesday night at the University of St. La Salle – Bacolod.
Alyssa Valdez, Pauline Soriano, Julia Morado, and Franchesca Racraquin came up with huge performances for Cool Smashers to split their two exhibition games in Western Visayas.
Cool Smashers had a strong start in the opening set for an 8-1 lead on a block by Valdez against Myla Pablo. The lead grew further to 16-3 on three service aces by Morado to easily wrap up the opening set.
After losing the second set, Cool Smashers opened the third frame with an 8-5 lead on conversions by Valdez. Errors by Lady Warriors allowed Cool Smashers to run away with a 20-12 lead and surge to a 2-1 set advantage.
Lady Warriors kept in step with Cool Smashers early in the fourth where it trailed only 6-8 but Cool Smashers unloaded a huge run behind Valdez, Soriano and Racraquin to raise the lead to double digits.
Meanwhile, Perlas-BanKo Lady Spikers swept its Western Visayas matches after scoring 20-25, 25-11, 25-16, 25-17 against Hair Fairy-Air Force Lady Jet Spikers.
Angelique Gervacio, Nicole Tiamzon, Amy Ahomiro, and Suzanne Roces were once again the focal point on offense to follow-up their 25-21, 22-25, 25-7, 25-14 win over Cool Smashers on Tuesday in Iloilo City.
In the preliminary match, Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts scored a 25-11, 25-8, 25-10 straight-set victory over University of St. La Salle – Bacolod./PN
