AL NASSR star Cristiano Ronaldo reached another milestone in his legendary career, becoming the first player in football history to score 100 goals for four different clubs.
The Portuguese forward struck twice but could not prevent Al Nassr from falling to Al Ahli, 5-3, in a penalty shootout during the Saudi Super Cup final on Saturday night at Hong Kong Stadium.
Ronaldo, 40, scored his 100th goal for the Saudi Pro League side with a first-half penalty in the 41st minute and added another successful conversion in the shootout.
In addition to his tally with Al Nassr, Ronaldo has scored 450 goals for Real Madrid, 145 for Manchester United, and 101 for Juventus.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner now has 940 career goals and remains determined to reach his target of 1,000 before retiring from the sport.
After Ronaldo’s 41st-minute opener, Al Ahli pulled level just before halftime through a strike from co-captain Franck Kessié.
Al Nassr reclaimed the lead in the 82nd minute courtesy of Marcelo Brozović, but Roger Ibañez equalized for Al Ahli in the 89th, forcing a penalty shootout.
Both sides converted their first three spot kicks, but Al Ahli buried their next two attempts while Al Nassr faltered on their fourth, sealing the championship for Al Ahli.
Ronaldo has been instrumental in Al Nassr’s rise in the Saudi Pro League and remains focused on adding silverware to his record-breaking career after recently signing an extension until June 2027.
“I’m happy in Saudi Arabia and my family is happy,” Ronaldo said. “We started a new life in this beautiful country. Work hard, respect the club, respect your contract and believe that things will change – for Al Nassr to try to win more titles.”/PN
