MANILA – The PLDT High Speed Hitters asserted their dominance and closed the opening round of the 2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference on a high note, sweeping the Nxled Chameleons, 25-22, 25-21, 25-20, at the Playtime Filoil Center in San Juan.
Led by the explosive all-around play of Filipina-Canadian Savannah Davison, PLDT not only remained unbeaten in Pool A but also secured the top seed heading into Pool D, where they will face the bottom three teams from Pool B in the tournament’s mid-phase.
Davison unleashed 19 points built on 14 attacks, three blocks, and two service aces, while also recording 10 excellent digs and nine excellent receptions in a commanding two-way performance. Import Anastasiia Bavykina added 10 points, and Dell Palomata contributed seven as PLDT displayed balance, patience, and poise throughout the straight-sets victory.
“’Yung unang reminders, ‘yung mindset going to this game na kailangan namin matuto na hindi maulit ‘yung slow start nung natalo namin. Hindi rin naman ibibigay ni Nxled, knowing nga na ‘yung import nila gumagana na rin,” said PLDT head coach Rald Ricafort.
“So, ‘yung mindset din na kailangan maging patient, lalo kung paano mabawasan ‘yung production nung import ng Nxled. Buti nagka-tugma tugma naman. Lamang pa rin sila sa attack pero na-capitalize namin ‘yung naging errors nila kaya nakakaiwan sa dulo,” he added.
Despite a 29-point outburst from Nxled’s Paola Martinez, the Chameleons failed to maintain momentum in crucial stretches, ending Pool A winless.
Meanwhile, the Capital1 Solar Energy Solar Spikers stunned the Cignal Super Spikers in another straight-set win, 25-23, 25-23, 25-21. Mhicaela Belen led Capital1 with 11 points, including 10 attacks and a service ace, while tallying 14 excellent digs to earn Player of the Game honors as her team improved to 2-2./PN
