ILOILO City – For allegedly railing against a barangay captain in public, a resident of Barangay Alalasan, Lapuz district was arrested.

Ma. Rizalina Cordero, 57, was detained at the La Paz police station, a police report showed.

Cordero was accused of orally defaming Barangay Captain Maricon Sumpio, 48.

Sumpio told the police the incident happened when she visited the wake of a constituent at around 2 p.m. on Dec. 5.

The barangay captain said she did not know why Cordero would say harsh words against her in public.
