ILOILO – Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. is looking forward to working with the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., who took his oath as the 17th President of the Philippines on Thursday, June 30.
Defensor said he supports the new administration’s plans, programs and direction, adding he was elated that Marcos is open to all – partymates or non-partymates.
“Ang aton nga administration nagasuporta sa plano kag kon ano man ang direction sang bag-o nga administration, parehas man sang pagsuporta naton sang nagligad nga tanan nga mga administration. We are ready to support and cooperate, and we look forward to working with the new administration closely,” Defensor said in an interview over DYRI RMN Iloilo yesterday morning.
The governor added that he wants the provincial government’s direction to be in sync with the national government.
In his inaugural speech, Marcos again pushed for unity as he assured a better tomorrow for the Filipino people, saying he and the public share the same dream.
“We are very happy nga amo man na ang pronouncement sang aton nga presidente kay dira pa lang sa umpisa kundi nagpareho na kita. Kabalo ka man sa Iloilo pagkatapos sang tiempo sang politika ma-umpisa na ang tiempo sang panghimanwa,” Defensor said.
Meanwhile, during his inauguration and oathtaking ceremony last June 28, Defensor laid down his administration’s direction for the next three years – “MoReProGRes” Iloilo, or “Movement for Resurgent, Progressive, Globally Competitive and Resilient.”
To attain the “MoReProGRes” Iloilo agenda, here are Defensor administration’s five major goals:
● to increase investments and employment opportunities;
● to attain food security;
● to provide accessible health and social services;
● to promote public safety, protect and manage the resources and assets of the province; and
● to provide effective, efficient and transparent government administrative services.
