ILOILO City – The Department of Education (DepEd) in Western Visayas is excited to have Vice President Sara Duterte at its helm.
According to DepEd-6 director Ramir Uytico, considering Duterte’s track record being a lawyer and excellent public servant, they have high hopes on her and they expect her to do her best as the Education department’s new secretary.
“Considering the track record of VP Sara being a mayor, lawyer and excellent public servant leader we are always expecting much from her. But ‘yon nga, sabi ko kahit sino ang secretary natin, ang DepEd-6 ay handang-handa sa journey to support the secretary considering that we [DepEd-6] claim that we are the home of the champion,” Uytico said.
He added that they are ready to support any initiatives, programs and projects to be implemented by Duterte.
“Excited na tayo diyan because handang-handa na tayo. Kung ano man ang programs, ano man ang projects na i-initiate ni Sec. Sara Duterte ay handang-handa na tayo,” the DepEd-6 director said.
Earlier on June 19, DepEd released an official statement on the inauguration of Duterte and her officially taking the helm of the Education department.
“The entire Department of Education (DepEd) family is one with the nation in congratulating Vice President Sara Zimmerman Duterte on her inauguration for the second highest post in the country,” the statement reads.
“Likewise, we are enthusiastic to welcome VP Sara to DepEd as the incoming Education Secretary and work with her in proactively addressing the challenges in basic education.
“Outgoing Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones and her team are eager to assist the Vice President in ensuring a smooth transition of priority education programs and policies, including the Basic Education Development Plan (BEDP) 2030, which can help the incoming administration in implementing further reforms,” it further stated.
The statement ended with DepEd calling on stakeholders, including teachers, non-teaching personnel, field officials, parents, and partners, to unite and collaborate anew under the leadership of Duterte, for the benefit of the Filipino children./PN
