ILOILO City – If a businessman were to be believed, a former vice governor of Iloilo pistol-whipped him during a traffic altercation in Jaro district.
In a police blotter, Alfonso Saladan of Barangay San Jose, Arevalo district claimed the pistol-whipping happened in the afternoon of Dec. 29, 2016 in Barangay Tacas, Jaro.
He was city-bound driving his van from Leganes, Iloilo, stated Saladan. In Barangay Tacas, a light gray Toyota Wigo overtook him then blocked his van, he claimed.
The Wigo driver got out, approached him then hit him with a short gun on the left eyebrow, Saladan told the Jaro police station.
According to Saladan, the man warned him before leaving with these words: “Patyon ta ka. Andaman mo kon manugid ka sa radyo, ipapatay ta ka (Better be careful if radio stations get wind of this. I will have you killed).”
Saladan said the man looked familiar. He believed it was former Iloilo vice governor Roberto Armada.
Panay News had been trying to contact Armada to no avail. Calls to his cellular phone were unanswered.
Saladan told the police he would be suing Armada.
Armada was elected Iloilo vice governor in 2001 and reelected in 2004./PN
