ILOILO City – Successive robbery incidents since Jan. 1 were keeping the police of Passi City busy. The most recent victim was a water refilling station operator.

On Tuesday night (Jan. 3), the 55-year-old Elisa Pacardo of Barangay Man-it lost P30,000 cash and a cell phone to three armed men.

The robbery was staged around 6:55 p.m. The men stopped the motorcycle Pacardo was riding and one of them threatened to shoot her and her driver, the 21-year-old Regie Narbonito of Dumarao, Capiz.

According to Superintendent Ruby Gumban, Passi City police chief, the robbers concealed their faces with bonnets.

“We have yet to identify any suspect,” Gumban said yesterday.

On New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, meat businessman Rolando Palmes of Passi City lost P600,000 to robbers who ransacked his house in Barangay Poblacion Ilaya.

At the time of the burglary, Palmes and his wife were at the wake of a dead relative.

They discovered the robbery only upon returning home around 6:30 p.m.

The following day (Jan. 2), two minors attempted to rob the house of former Department of Education – Division of Iloilo superintendent Dr. Raymundo Lapating in Barangay Poblacion, Passi City.

The two minors entered Lapating’s compound around 7:30 p.m. But they ran away when Lapating’s car alarm suddenly blared after they broke its windshield.

From Lapating’s house, the two minors proceeded to CPT Mart.

One of the suspects, a 14-year-old lad, was arrested after he left the store. His 16-year-old companion was able to escape./PN
