BACOLOD City – As preparations for Christmas go frantic, the Department of Health (DOH) in Western Visayas reminded residents of Negros Occidental to eat in moderation.
Take care against food poisoning when attending parties, said Dr. Mary Ann Sta. Lucia, DOH-6 regional violence and injury prevention alliance (VIPA) coordinator.
Sta. Lucia advised Negrenses to eat lechon in moderation, pointing out that cardiovascular disorders such as high blood pressure, stroke and heart attacks become frequent during the holiday season.
Do not to forget to also eat fruits and vegetables, said Sta. Lucia.
She also advised Negrenses to avoid using torotot during the New Year’s Day celebration, pointing out that the coronavirus disease pandemic is not yet over and using torotot could easily spread the virus.
Firecracker-related injuries are also a concern. Sta. Lucia encouraged the public to find other ways to make noise without using firecrackers.
Most of the victims of firecracker blasts last year were those aged between 11 to 20 years old./PN
