ILOILO City – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 6 revealed the number of regularized workers in Western Visayas.
According to DOLE officer-in-charge regional director Salome O. Siaton, there are 761 regularized workers in the region as of Nov. 25.
“Three hundred workers are committed to be regularized by the employer before the year ends, while 201 workers are ready for the regularization,” Siaton said.
DOLE has recently targeted regularizing 50 percent of workers in the region by December. According to their data as of Oct. 14, there are 1,692 workers in the region affected by contractualization.
Siaton added that the company that practices “endo” shall be given a due process to conduct a joint assessment of labor loss compliance officers. If there are violations in the working arrangements, the employers will be called by DOLE to discuss compliance orders.
DOLE-6 will first target workers in malls, manufacturing companies, hotels, restaurants hospitals and food chains, Siaton disclosed./PN
