ILOILO City – “The packaging of food products always matters.” This is according to Department of Science and Technology (DOST) regional director Rowen Gelonga.
“Ang packaging naton, very important gid ini for many reasons. Ang pinaka-obvious nga permi nga makita naton is that may mga packaging nga manami imo product presentation,” said Gelonga.
According to Gelonga, good packaging can easily attract consumers. For the manufacturers and the DOST, packaging is a means of protecting and preserving these products.
“Kun ma-protect ang poducts sang maayo ma-lenghten ang shelf life sang products. With proper packaging, ang products ma-stay within four to five weeks. Pwedi siya mapalawig hasta sa tunga sang tuig,” stressed Gelonga.
The packaging of products has a great implication in the markets. Gelonga said products that are purely packaged can be sold not only here in Iloilo but also throughout the country and other parts of the world.
“Ang aton nga mga products have a very big implication in the markets. Because ang produkto nga purely packaged, pwede mo na siya mabaligya sa imo da nga palibot kag kung maayo ang imo nga packaging, madugay iya nga shelf life outside of Iloilo. Even outside of the country, pwede naton mabaligya ang aton nga products,” Gelonga added.
The DOST-6 chief furthermore underscored that the shelf life of a product is important for the consumers’ protection./PN
