BACOLOD City – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bacolod City District Engineering Office is asking motorists passing through the Sum-ag bridge to use an alternative route.
This is due to the ongoing bridge widening that causes traffic congestion in the southern portion of this city.
Assistant District Engineer Leah Jamero recommended using the Abuanan-Cabug road.
She revealed that there would be major works on Dec. 13 and 14, and part of the bridge would become impassable for several hours.
The DPWH will advise the contractor to put signage in the area, Jamero said.
Meanwhile, the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) requested DPWH for work stoppage during this yuletide season.
But Jamero said it would be hard for the project contractors to be on track with the set completion date.
Major roads in the city were experiencing heavy traffic, especially during peak hours, as holidays were nearing.
BTAO has deployed additional personnel to address the traffic situation./PN
