ILOILO City – A drunken 69-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing a jewelry shop worker along Guanco Street.

Police identified the suspect as Reynaldo Casanova of Barangay San Pedro, Molo district.

A police report showed he used a 14-inch knife in stabbing Raymund Damian, 34, a repairman in i-Gold Smith and Jewelry Repair Shop at the San Jose Building on Guanco Street.

Damian and a coworker was binge drinking at the building at around 10:15 p.m. on Jan. 25 when the former had a heated argument with Casanova.

It was not known what triggered the argument.

Damian sustained stab wounds on the stomach and left elbow. His cousin brought him to St. Paul’s Hospital Iloilo along General Luna Street./PN
