MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte has the final say whether face-to-face classes would be allowed by January next year as the country still faces the coronavirus pandemic, said his spokesperson Harry Roque.
“Patuloy ang paghahanda (ng Department of Education para sa face-to-face classes) pero ang desisyon ay na kay Presidente,” Roque said during his virtual presser on Tuesday.
Roque added that conducting face-to-face classes by January is a possibility since the Department of Health were eyeing to shift the entire country to modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) by the first quarter of 2021.
“Our goal is MGCQ na lahat ng lugar sa Q1 2021. Titingnan po natin ang condition ng prevalance ng coronavirus sa iba’t ibang parte ng bansa,” the Palace spokesperson said.
President Duterte earlier rejected the plan for face-to-face classes this year unless a COVID-19 vaccine becomes available.
