MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte slammed opposition senator Franklin Drilon for branding the administration’s flagship infrastructure program “Build, Build, Build” as a failure.
In an interview with GMA News’ 24 Oras on Monday evening, President Duterte said that the Ilonggo senator seemed does not know how to count and only knows how to criticize.
“You can see for yourself. Ilang airport, ngayon you travel around, look at Luzon, look at the stretch,” Duterte said. “‘Yung mga perennial ano niya… Because of statements that are out of tune.”
The President added: “Hindi mo pa ginawa, sinasabi na may corruption diyan, eh di ‘wag na lang. Hindi nya tinitignan, he does not really know to count.”
“If it’s a statement just to… a delusion, wala tayong magawa, libre yan e. People judge best when they condemn,” the President further said.
During the Senate Budget hearing last week, Drilon said the administration’s infrastructure program was a “dismal failure” as only nine of the 75 flagship projects have started construction.
The government since then revised its “Build, Build, Build” list, which now covers 100 projects from the initial 75. Some infrastructure projects were scrapped due to feasibility issues.
The updated list covers flagship infrastructure projects under five categories namely; transport and mobility; power; water; information and communications technology; and urban development and renewal./PN
