ILOILO – A 74-year-old man died after he was hit by a motorcycle while crossing the road in Barangay Guihaman, Leganes, Iloilo past 6 a.m. on Monday, February 2.
Police said the victim identified as Carlito Abler Jr., a resident of the said village, sustained severe head injury. He died while receiving treatment at the Metro Iloilo Hospital in Barangay Tagbak, Jaro, Iloilo City.
According to the Leganes Municipal Police Station, Abler was jogging and crossing the road when he was suddenly hit by a motorcycle driven by Ernesto Rivera, 52, a resident of Barangay Bitoon, Jaro district.
Rivera also suffered minor body injuries after being thrown from his motorcycle during the collision. He was brought to Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao district.
As of press time, Leganes police were conducting a follow-up investigation into the accident. Authorities were awaiting the decision of both parties regarding a possible settlement or the filing of formal charges./PN
