BACOLOD City – Their suspension may have ended, but they are not yet off the hook.
Investigation continues on the five city government employees who allegedly failed to liquidate over P9 million in cash advances.
City Legal Office (CLO) head Joselito Bayatan on Wednesday said they required the five employees to submit a position paper. They were:
* Department of Social Services and Development head Pacita Tero
* City Planning and Development Office assistant head Mae Cuaycong
* Public Affairs Assistance Division personnel Edsel Casilagan
* City Health Office nursing assistant Diana Besañes
* Ma. Fe Tresfuentes of the Department of Public Services
Calling themselves the “Fallen 5,” the workers were facing an administrative charge for gross neglect of duty.
They have returned to the Bacolod City Government Center on Monday after serving a two-month suspension, Bayatan said.
Bayatan acknowledged their claims that they have liquidated their cash advances and dealt with the city accountant.
“We will give them the full extent of due process,” he said, adding that the employees were also required to submit documentary proof.
A notice to submit a position paper was sent to the “Fallen 5” on Thursday.
They have 10 days upon receipt of the notice to file, said the lawyer.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia will have the final say on the employees’ fate, Bayatan said./PN
